Kosciusko County FOP Scholarship Winners

On August 10th, 2010, the Kosciusko County FOP Lodge #149 awarded three scholarships to local students who are continuing their education in the field of criminal justice or medical professional. The scholarships are given in the names of local officer’s that have given their lives in the line of duty in Kosciusko County.
K.C.S.D. Detective/Sergeant Phil Hochstetler was shot and killed in 1994 during a criminal investigation. ISP Trooper Jason Beal was assisting a motorist on SR 14 in Kosciusko County when he was struck and killed by another vehicle in 2000. K.C.S.D. Sgt. Jeff Shaw was responding to a call of children playing on SR 14 in Kosciusko County when his vehicle was struck head-on and killed by a truck that had lost control and crossed the center line in 2009.
This year recipients are Brenden Barber, Cassie Haecker, and Brittney Miotto. Brenden Barber is a 2010 graduate from Warsaw Community High School and will be attending Anderson University to study Criminal Justice. Cassie Haecker is a 2010 graduate of Warsaw Community High School and will be attending IPFW to study Dental Hygiene. Brittney Miotto is a 2010 graduate of Warsaw Community High School and will be attending Manchester College to study Pre Med and Psychology.
The Kosciusko County FOP lodge #149 would like to congratulate these years’ scholarship recipients and wish them the best for their prospective futures.
