The ninth annual Whitley County Autumn Art Festival will be held Saturday, Sept. 11 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the Whitley County Courthouse lawn. Admission is free.
WCAAF offers all ages a variety of opportunities to appreciate, explore, and experience the visual arts, music and dance. Over 40 Artists, exhibitors, dancers and musicians are perfecting their art and many chocolate-themed venues are promising another best ever festival.
This year’s theme is Patriot – Red, White & Blue: The festival will be kicked off by the Korean War Veterans and the display of flags by the Veteran monuments. There will also be a moment of silence for the anniversary of those lives that were lost on September 11 at 9 a.m. Later, the history chalk walk will have the same theme and will be sponsored by the Fort Wayne Museum of Art – the winner will receive cash awards.
There will be art demonstrators exhibiting their art and talent. The popular Children’s Art Tent will have many art projects, balloon art with Sweetcakes Comedy and caricature artist Mark Ryan of Fort Wayne.
Silent art auction items will be available for bids in front of the Clugston Hotel from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be music and dancing and the Indiana Pacemate Cheerleader’s will return for a dance routine on the west side of the courthouse.
The Childrens Amateur Art Show will be housed at the historic Clugston Hotel lobby; the Whitley County Humane Society will have their pet road show and drawing contest on the east side of the courthouse. Downtown businesses will display painted window art, or chocolate venues (watch for balloons) and much more.
Thanks go, in part, to grants from the Whitley County Community Foundation, The Journal Gazette Foundation and Whitley Parkview Hospital.
