SR5 railroad crossing closed

The railroad crossing at State Route 5, south of Heyerly's Meat Market, and just north of Pennsylvannia Avenue and Ag Plus is closed until early July.
Although the official routes take most traffic along an 18 mile detour, locals know they can go east or west a couple of blocks and cross on Calhoun Street (to the east) and by going west on First Street, then south on Line.
The closing makes State Street much quieter and we hope shoppers can find their way to downtown South Whitley while railroad crossing repairs are completed!
